Senior Officer – Industrial Engineering-IE,(Woven Washing)
Job Description
Job Context: To support the Industrial Engineering team by conducting time and motion studies, developing Standard Minute Values (SMV), monitoring productivity, optimizing manpower and machine utilization, improving washing processes, and contributing to Lean Manufacturing initiatives to achieve production efficiency, cost reduction, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities:
Time Study & Work Measurement: Conduct time and motion studies for all garment washing operations, develop and maintain Standard Minute Value (SMV) for different wash types, establish standard operating methods, eliminate non-value-added motions, and support workload balancing across all washing sections to improve operational efficiency.
Productivity Monitoring: Monitor daily production efficiency by measuring operator and machine productivity, tracking idle time and production losses, identifying process bottlenecks, and recommending corrective actions to maximize output and operational performance.
Capacity Planning: Calculate daily and weekly washing capacity, monitor machine loading and utilization, prepare manpower allocation plans, support production planning with accurate capacity data, and ensure optimum utilization of all washing equipment.
Process Improvement: Identify non-value-added activities, support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives, improve workflow and material handling systems, standardize washing methods, and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and enhance productivity.
Machine Utilization: Monitor and analyze the utilization and performance of washing machines, hydro extractors, dryers, ovens, laser machines, ozone machines, PP spray booths, and finishing machines to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effective production planning.
Cost Control Support: Monitor and analyze chemical, water, steam, and electricity consumption, machine downtime, and labour productivity, while supporting the implementation of cost-saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and analyze daily production reports, efficiency reports, productivity reports, machine utilization reports, capacity reports, SMV databases, bottleneck analysis reports, IE daily MIS, and improvement action trackers to support data-driven decision-making.
Lean Manufacturing: Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies, including 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why Analysis, Standard Work, and Waste Elimination (Muda) to drive continuous operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with the Production, Washing Laboratory, Quality Assurance, Planning, Merchandising, Maintenance, Chemical Store, and Finishing departments to ensure smooth production flow, effective communication, and timely achievement of operational targets.
Training & Development: Train supervisors and operators on standard operating methods, promote productivity awareness, support the implementation of new processes and work instructions, and contribute to employee skill development programs for continuous performance improvement.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments, Textile, Washing Factory
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Textile Engineering
B.Sc. in Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE)
OR B.Sc. in Apparel Manufacturing Engineering
Diploma in Textile Engineering with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
Additional Requirements
- Age 22 to 35 years
Sound knowledge of time study and method study·
Understanding of line balancing techniques
Knowledge of garment manufacturing processes
Basic understanding of SMV and capacity planning
Analytical and problem-solving skills
