Garment Technician (Woven / Outwear)
Job Description
Experience Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in Garment Sample Development and Technical Operations.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Woven / Outwear products.
- Experience working with Buying Houses, Export-Oriented Garment Industries, or Apparel Sourcing Companies.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern correction, fitting, QC & QA and sample development understanding the processes.
Responsibilities & Context
Sample Development & Technical Support
- Develop Proto Samples, Fit Samples, Salesman Samples, Size Set Samples, Pre-Production Samples (PP Samples), QC & QA and Shipment Samples as per buyer requirements.
- Interpret Tech Packs, sketches, measurement charts, and garment specifications accurately.
- Ensure sample garments are developed according to buyer standards and quality expectations.
- Coordinate with Merchandising and Production teams to ensure timely sample submission.
Pattern & Fit Analysis
- Review patterns and provide technical feedback for better garment fitting and construction.
- Conduct fit analysis and identify measurement discrepancies.
- Recommend pattern modifications and construction improvements based on buyer comments.
- Ensure all fit corrections are implemented before final sample approval.
Garment Construction & Quality Evaluation
- Analyze garment construction methods and sewing techniques.
- Verify fabric behavior, shrinkage, wash effects, and garment performance.
- Ensure samples meet workmanship, measurement, and appearance standards.
- Identify technical issues and provide practical solutions before bulk production.
Buyer Comment Implementation
- Review buyer comments and technical feedback.
- Implement all required modifications accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate with sample operators and pattern makers to ensure corrections are completed properly.
- Maintain records of all revisions and technical changes.
Production Technical Support
- Support production teams with technical guidance during bulk manufacturing.
- Assist in solving garment construction and fitting issues during production.
- Review pre-production samples and approve technical readiness before production starts.
- Participate in PP meetings and technical review sessions.
Fabric & Trim Coordination
- Verify fabric specifications, GSM, composition, color, and performance requirements.
- Check trims and accessories to ensure compliance with buyer specifications.
- Identify any technical risks related to fabrics, trims, or garment construction.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain technical files, measurement sheets, fit reports, and sample records.
- Prepare sample evaluation reports and technical comments.
- Ensure all technical documentation is properly updated and archived.
Experience
- 5 to 10 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments, Buying House
Education
Diploma in Textile Engineering or Graduation.
Extensive practical experience in garment sample development may also be considered.
Professional training in Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Fit Analysis, QC & QA or Sample Development will be an advantage.

- Strong understanding of international buyer requirements and garment quality standards.
- Ability to identify and resolve garment fitting and construction issues independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet sample submission deadlines.
- Knowledge of CAD Pattern Software (Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, or similar) will be an added advantage.
