Research Associate (Litigation)

Mahbub & Company, a top-tier, full-service law firm based in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, is looking for Research Associate to work in the Litigation team and/or court chamber at the subordinate courts and/or Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities

The desired candidate shall be primarily responsible for dealing with local litigation matters, including but not limited to:

• Conduct in-depth legal research and provide strategic input on matters involving civil, commercial, banking, criminal, and administrative law.
• Drafting Writs, Plaints, Applications, Legal Notice, etc. on various legal issues for District and Sessions Judge, High Court Division and Appellate Division.
• Draft and review case files, witness statements, and legal opinions with a focus on procedural compliance and evidentiary standards.
• Represent clients before subordinate courts, tribunals, and regulatory authorities, including the preparation and presentation of pleadings, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Assisting the Partners with hearings as well as conducting hearings solely before various benches of the Hon’ble High Court Division.
• Support senior associates and partners in trial preparation, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
• Liaise with clients, witnesses, and court officials to ensure effective case management and timely progression of matters.
• Conducting meetings face to face as well as virtually with clients, etc.
• Coordinate with external law firms and advocates for case updates and strategy.
• Monitor litigation timelines and ensure timely filing of documents.
• Maintain and update case files and litigation databases, Dairy.
• Prepare regular litigation status reports for management and legal leadership

Workdays: Sunday to Thursday (8.30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Judge Court, Chamber then 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dhanmondi Chamber) Saturday (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM)

• 1 to 2 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Law Firm

• Master of Law (LLM) / LLB (Hons.) from a recognized university
• Bar-at-Law is preferred
• Candidates enrolled as Advocates with the Bangladesh Bar Council will be given preference.

• Age 25 to 35 years

• Proven skills in legal drafting, statutory interpretation, and analysis of case law
• Excellent communication, research and organizational abilities.     
• High standards of professional integrity, discretion and commitment to ethical legal practice. 
• Excellent writing and communication skills in both English and Bengali
• Computer literacy and expertise in Microsoft Office and other digital platform/tools
• Workplace: Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Court and Dhanmondi, Dhaka / Court Chamber at Supreme Court of Bangladesh and/or subordinate courts.
