Manager - Nursery Operations

We are seeking a dynamic, result oriented, and experienced Manager – Nursery Operations to lead our commercial nursery production and landscaping operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for nursery production planning, operational excellence, business development, project implementation, and team leadership to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all nursery production operations, maximizing land utilization, productivity, and plant species diversity.

• Develop annual and seasonal production plans to ensure timely availability of quality planting materials.

• Oversee propagation, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, harvesting, and inventory control.

• Plan, design, and supervise landscaping and plantation projects for government, corporate, institutional, and private clients.

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporate clients, NGOs, government agencies, and institutions to expand nursery business and sales.

• Develop and implement operational efficiency strategies to minimize production costs, reduce input wastage, and improve productivity.

• Manage nursery budgets, procurement, resource allocation, and cost control to achieve financial targets.

• Lead project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and ensure timely completion within budget.

• Coordinate field activities with local authorities, development partners, consultants, and stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

• Monitor nursery performance through KPIs and prepare operational reports for management.

• Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate nursery staff while maintaining a high-performance work culture.

• Identify new business opportunities in nursery production, landscaping, plantation, and horticultural services.

• At least 5 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Agro based firms (incl. Agro Processing/Seed/GM), Animal/Plant Breeding, Agro based Startup

• MS in Horticulture (Preferred)

• B.Sc. in Agriculture (Mandatory)

• Age At least 30 years

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a reputed nursery production or commercial horticulture organization.

• Proven experience in nursery management, plant propagation, commercial production, landscaping, or plantation project implementation.

• Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale nursery operations will be an added advantage.

• Highly experienced professionals with exceptional practical expertise are strongly encouraged to apply

Required Skills:

• Strong leadership and people management abilities.

• Sound technical knowledge of nursery production and horticultural practices.

• Excellent planning, budgeting, and project management skills.

• Business development and client relationship management.

• Knowledge of plant health, irrigation systems, fertilizer management, and integrated pest management (IPM).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
