Project-specific Responsibilities:
Review and analyze existing disaster risk reduction (DiDRR) and climate change adaptation (DiCCA) plans and policies.
Identify and assess government and non-government services and programs targeting children and youth with disabilities in coastal regions of Bangladesh.
Manage KOBO Toolbox, including questionnaire entry, data collection, and database maintenance.
Lead qualitative data collection efforts, including interviews, focus groups, and community-based research.
Ensure data quality and consistency through regular quality assurance processes.
Synthesize research findings and prepare detailed reports to support policy and program development.
Review and evaluate relevant policies to ensure alignment with DiDRR and DiCCA goals.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure research findings inform advocacy and programmatic decisions.
Provide technical support and guidance on research methodologies and data management tools.
Design and implement strategies for improving data collection and analysis processes.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of ongoing DiDRR and DiCCA programs for children and youth with disabilities.
Contribute to the development of recommendations for more inclusive disaster resilience strategies for vulnerable populations.
Collaborate with field teams to support data collection and ensure proper implementation of research methods.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members on data management and research protocols.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
Adhere to CDD's Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.
Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.
Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.

*** Job Context:
The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a non-profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its former Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
CDD is accepting application for the position of ‘Research Officer’ under a project title ‘Resilience Begins at Home: Disability-Inclusive Disaster Preparedness in Coastal Bangladesh’ to be implemented with the supported by the Liliane Fonds. Key responsibilities include reviewing relevant project activities, measuring project result, Monitoring, mapping available services, overseeing data collection processes (including the use of KOBO Toolbox), ensuring data accuracy and quality, and analyzing and presenting research findings in reports that contribute to policy development. The position requires strong knowledge of disaster management, climate change, and disability inclusion, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to foster inclusive and resilient communities. Demonstrated leadership, solid technical skills, and strategic thinking are essential for this role.
The duration of the project is till 31st July 2027. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
Experience
- At least 3 years
Education
A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in any discipline preferable in Social Sciences, Disaster Management, Public Health, Development Studies, Disability Studies, Environmental Science, or any other related field.
Specialization or training in Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (DiCCA) is highly desirable.
Additional Requirements
- Age At most 45 years
Job Location is CDD HQ with extensive field visit at project locations.
A minimum 3 years of experience in a research background is preferable.
Expertise in research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative.
Experience on project monitoring, conduct evaluation.
Having publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals is a plus.
Familiarity with KOBO Toolbox and other online data management tools.
Strong background on research. policy analysis and report writing.
Knowledge or experience in inclusive development, particularly related to children and youth with disabilities, is a plus.
Fluency in Bangla and English is required for both written and verbal communication.
