Job Description

Job Context:

The Senior Manager – Business Development (Solar Projects) will lead the organization's business development and growth initiatives within the renewable energy sector, with a primary focus on solar EPC, rooftop solar, utility-scale solar, and government and private sector projects. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, managing the complete tendering and bidding process, negotiating commercial contracts, and driving successful project acquisition. This role requires close collaboration with the engineering, procurement, finance, and project implementation teams to ensure timely project execution, achieve revenue and sales targets, and support the organization's long-term sustainable growth in the renewable energy industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales & Business Development Identify and secure high-capacity solar rooftop, ground-mounted, or floating solar opportunities, particularly within industrial sectors. Lead the entire sales lifecycle—from initial lead generation and site assessment coordination to techno-commercial proposal submission and contract closing.

  • Techno-Commercial Oversight Review client requirements, perform electrical/financial viability analyses, and oversee the creation of BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and pricing schedules. Coordinate closely with internal engineering and procurement teams to ensure proposed designs align with both budget limitations and customer needs.

  • Marketing Strategy & Market Intelligence Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to capture demand for corporate solar installations and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. Monitor competitor pricing, emerging PV (Photovoltaic) technologies, and industry trends to refine company sales positioning.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Policy Navigation Keep up-to-date with local renewable energy policies, such as SREDA guidelines and Net-Metering interconnection policies. Advise commercial clients on regulatory compliance, government incentives, and return on investment (ROI) calculations.

  • Leadership & Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strategic relationships with corporate clients, developers, and key stakeholders to drive repeat business and referrals. Manage, train, and motivate the sales and marketing team to meet or exceed company targets.

  • e-GP Tendering & Government Procurement Portal Management:

    Oversee the company’s profile, tracking, and bid submissions on the National e-Government Procurement (e-GP) portal.

    BPDB & REB Compliance: Prepare techno-commercial bids for major government bodies like the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Rural Electrification Board (BREB).

    Security & Compliance: Manage tender security deposits, performance guarantees, and Joint Venture (JV) documentations according to PPR-2025 (Public Procurement Rules).

  • NGO & Institutional Sales Development Partner Relations: Cultivate relationships with major NGOs and international donors (e.g., BRAC, UNDP, UNHCR, World Bank) for off-grid solar projects, refugee camp lighting, and solar-powered water pumping systems.

    Grant & Proposal Writing: Lead the preparation of technical grant proposals and expressions of interest (EOIs) aligned with donor procurement guidelines.

  • Bangladesh Market Regulatory Navigation Net-Metering Policy: Structure corporate commercial proposals that leverage the Bangladesh Net-Metering Guidelines to maximize client ROI. Idcol Standards: Ensure all proposed equipment (inverters, PV modules) complies with Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) standards for financing eligibility.

Experience

  • 8 to 15 years

Education

    • Bachelor in Engineering (BEngg) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
    • Masters in Engineering (MEngg) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering

  • Must have proven experience working in a target-oriented environment with a strong track record of achieving business development and sales targets.

  • The candidate must have experience in overseeing Solar System Design and the complete Tender/Bidding process for EPC projects, including project BOQ/BOM analysis, ensuring technical compliance, and managing commercial negotiations effectively.

  • Experience: 6+ years in tender/proposal management, specifically within the renewable energy/solar industry.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of EPC contracts, solar PV technology, and industry standards.

  • Competencies: Excellent communication, negotiation, and attention to detail.
