Job Description
Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity (MJSKS) is a non-profit making community development organization situated in the northern Bangladesh. The organization is registered with the Social Welfare Department and NGO Affairs Bureau of the Bangladesh government. Since 1972, the organization has been serving the poor and extreme poor with special focus on the char (River Island) and attached char inhabitants (men, women, persons with disability, youth, children and adolescents) in different areas through several program initiatives. At present, MJSKS has been working in Kurigram, Rangpur and Lalmonirhat district. MJSKS has been implementing various types of projects in the field of livelihood development, human rights, women empowerment, youth employability and engagement, adolescent development, gender equality, quality education for children, water and sanitation, health, hygiene & nutrition, Humanitarian Assistance in disaster and climate change adaptation. Sustainable development for the poorest through ensuring people`s participation is the key approach of its work.
Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity (MJSKS), in collaboration with WaterAid Bangladesh. Partnership, is implementing the project titled “Civil Society Leadership in Mobilizing for Better WASH (CLIMB)”. The program aims to strengthen and improve WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services for poverty-driven vulnerable communities through a structured and sustainable approach. Throughout the implementation period, the project
focuses on strengthening local ownership, building institutional capacity, and integrating WASH priorities into government planning and budgeting processes. This comprehensive approach will help ensure that the project’s achievements are sustained beyond its implementation period.

MJSKS is looking for a qualified Union Outreach & Community Mobilizer for the said project
Job Nature: Full-time up to the project period based on performance
Job location: Chilmari upazila under Kurigram District.
Reporting to: Project Officer.
Key responsibilities:
Experience in community mobilization, group formation, and grassroots facilitation
Strong understanding of participatory rural appraisal (PRA) tools and community engagement approaches
Ability to work closely with marginalized and indigenous communities
Good interpersonal and communication skills in Bangla; local dialect knowledge will be an advantage
Basic report writing and documentation skills
Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas and adapt to field conditions
Team-oriented, motivated, and sensitive to gender and social inclusion issues
Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving licence.
The expected outcomes of the CLIMB project are;
Civil society amplifies the voices of rights holders to claim and secure their rights.
Civil society effectively holds duty bearers accountable to deliver on their WASH, climate and health commitments.
Decision-makers commit to gender-responsive and climate resilient WASH policies
Decision-makers commit to increased and improved gender responsive and climate resilient WASH financing.
To ensure strong community engagement, Field Facilitators will be deployed in the project area, each covering two unions. They will facilitate community organization, strengthen local leadership platforms, support community monitoring initiatives, and ensure meaningful participation of women, ethnic minority groups, and other marginalized populations. Their work will play a key role in amplifying the voices of rights-holders and strengthening community engagement in local governance processes.
Job Responsibilities of the Field Facilitator:
Mobilise and organise communities within assigned unions to actively participate in project activities and local governance processes.
Facilitate the formation, strengthening, and effective functioning of community groups, WASH platforms, and local leadership structures.
Support community participation in Participatory WASH Vulnerability Assessments (PWVA), adaptation planning, social accountability, and budget tracking initiatives.
Ensure meaningful engagement of women, ethnic minority groups, youth, and other marginalized populations in project interventions.
Conduct community meetings, awareness sessions, courtyard meetings, and advocacy events on climate-resilient and gender-responsive WASH issues.
Assist in organising Ward Shavas, open budget sessions, public hearings, and community-government dialogue meetings.
Support community monitoring of WASH, climate, and health-related services and commitments.
Collect field-level information, success stories, case studies, and community feedback for project learning and reporting.
Maintain regular liaison with Union Parishad representatives, community leaders, and local stakeholders.
Submit regular field reports and updates to the Project Manager/Project Officer/relevant project staff.
The candidate should have knowledge on safeguarding (Child Protection, Gender, and Anti-Sexual Harassment), PSHEA issues, persons with disability inclusion, social protection, and complaint response and feedback mechanism
Experience
- At least 4 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO
Education
- Bachelor/Honors
- Masters
Bachelor degree in any discipline Master’s degree will be considered as added advantage.
Additional Requirements
- Age At least 23 years
At least 4 years working experience in any Local/National NGO. Having solid working experience in WASH, DRR and Climate resilient program.
Compensation & Other Benefits
Salary: Monthly gross salary Tk. 22,000/- possibility of yearly salary increment maximum 5-10% with 1 festival bonus (equivalent one-month gross salary)
