Security Supervisor
Job Description
Position Summary: The Security Supervisor holds direct operational accountability for the safety and security of the entire AISD community — on campus, in faculty residences, and throughout the surrounding neighbourhood. AISD’s security responsibility does not end at the campus gate. The Security Supervisor must be proactive, alert, and immediately responsive at all times, including after school hours, weekends, and school holidays.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE
Campus Security Operations & Access Control
Enforce strict ID verification and Child Protection-focused screening at all access points. Ensure no unauthorised individual enters campus and no student leaves without verified authorisation. Maintain visitor logs for all vendors and consultants.
Conduct regular documented inspections of all campus areas — classrooms, playgrounds, parking zones, stairwells, perimeter fences — to proactively detect vulnerabilities and hazards before they are reported. Maintain 100% operational readiness of all security equipment; initiate repair of any fault immediately.
Community, Neighbourhood & After-Hours Response
Conduct regular patrols of the campus vicinity, faculty residences, and community movement routes. Monitor local conditions — gatherings, demonstrations, road closures — and communicate any concern to the Head of Safety & Security immediately. Coordinate with residential building security to ensure consistent coverage and prompt response to faculty concerns.
Respond immediately to all after-hours calls from any AISD community member. Take ownership of the response: assess, dispatch, stay in contact until resolution, and file a written incident report within the same shift. Maintain a documented after-hours call log submitted to the Head of Safety & Security each morning following a night shift.
Guard Force Leadership & Emergency Response
Provide active, hands-on supervision of all security personnel. Conduct daily briefings. Manage shift rotations to ensure gap-free coverage at all times. Lead communication with diplomatic police and government security agencies deployed at AISD. Provide coaching and formal performance evaluations; flag manpower challenges and procedural weaknesses to the Head of Safety & Security early.
Serve as on-ground first responder for all incidents. Take command, coordinate guards, and escalate immediately. Monitor and follow through on all safety hazards identified during patrols — do not log and leave. Prepare incident reports within the same shift without being asked. Maintain all security documentation in audit-ready condition at all times.
This job description is intended as a guide to the principal responsibilities of the role and is not exhaustive. The post-holder may be required to undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor, in accordance with the organisation’s evolving needs.
