Job Description

SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh is a non-governmental social development organisation that provides care and support to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing parental care and are deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages operate in 136 countries and territories worldwide. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet, Bagerhat, Kurigram and Gazipur.
Our Programmes contribute to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a special focus on our target group to improve the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.
The Floating Garden Project aims to strengthen food security and increase household income for climate-vulnerable farming families in flood-prone Sylhet through floating garden cultivation and the establishment of a sustainable, member-owned cooperative. The project priorities smallholder and marginal farmers, with particular focus on women farmers, women-headed households and youth.
Project Name: Floating Garden Project
Nature of Job: Fixed Term Contract for One Year (Yearly renewable based on performance)
Project Duration: Up to the 30 April 2029
Job Purpose:The Junior Officer will support the implementation of the Floating Garden Project by assisting with field activities, beneficiary engagement, data collection, and project documentation to ensure smooth delivery of project interventions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support project activities and field implementation in target communities.

  • Assist in beneficiary mobilization, training, and awareness sessions.

  • Support the distribution of project inputs and materials.

  • Collect and maintain project data and beneficiary records.

  • Conduct field visits and provide updates on project progress.

  • Adhere to organization standards and regulations such as the Code of Conduct, Child & Youth Safeguarding, Sexual Misconduct Regulation (PSHEA) or any other policies/ regulations as introduced from time to time.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education

    • HSC
    • Bachelor/Honors
  • Minimum HSC, Bachelor’s degree in any discipline will be preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Age At least 18 years
  • Relevant experience in community development, agriculture, or NGO projects will be an advantage.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in field-based settings and with local communities.

  • Basic data collection and reporting skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
