Job Summary
The Senior Chemistry Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, Cambridge-aligned Chemistry lessons to students. The role requires an experienced, subject-specialist educator who can foster intellectual curiosity, develop rigorous scientific understanding, lead practical laboratory sessions, and achieve strong examination results. The Senior Chemistry Teacher is also expected to mentor junior science staff, contribute actively to curriculum planning, support departmental initiatives, and model the highest standards of teaching professionalism and academic integrity within the institution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, Cambridge-aligned Chemistry lessons for secondary and A-Level students, covering Physical, Inorganic, Organic, and Analytical Chemistry.
- Design, prepare, and safely conduct laboratory practical and chemical experiments in accordance with the Cambridge practical assessment framework.
- Set and mark assessments regularly, providing constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of student grades and academic progress.
- Prepare students comprehensively for the Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A-Level Chemistry examinations through structured revision, past-paper analysis, and exam-technique training.
- Contribute to the review and development of the Chemistry curriculum, schemes of work, lesson resources, and assessment tasks.
- Ensure all laboratory sessions are conducted in full compliance with health and safety regulations, chemical-handling protocols, and institutional risk-assessment procedures.
- Mentor and support junior Science teachers in pedagogical practice, lesson planning, and classroom management.
- Assist the Head of Department in coordinating departmental activities, managing laboratory resources, and supporting academic initiatives.
- Maintain student-related records and all required academic documentation, and communicate student progress professionally with parents.
- Uphold all institutional policies on safeguarding, child protection, laboratory safety, and professional standards at all times.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities reasonably assigned by management in support of the institution’s academic objectives.
Experience
- At least 6 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): University, College, School, Kindergarten, Madrasa
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc)
- Master of Science (MSc)
Bachelor`s degree (Honours) or Master`s degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline; a postgraduate teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Age At least 25 years
- Only Male
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Minimum 6 years of proven experience teaching Chemistry at the secondary or A-Level stage, preferably within a Cambridge-affiliated institution.
Demonstrated track record of strong student outcomes in Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry examinations.
Practical experience in designing, preparing, and supervising Chemistry laboratory sessions within a school environment.
Sound knowledge of chemical safety regulations and laboratory risk management procedures.
Prior experience in curriculum development, academic mentoring, or departmental leadership is a significant advantage.
Deep subject-matter expertise in Chemistry across the Cambridge curriculum, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engagingly.
Strong classroom management, behaviour management, and student motivation skills.
Proficiency in laboratory instruction, chemical safety management, and practical assessment.
Analytical skills for interpreting student data and driving performance improvement.
Mentoring, coaching, and leadership capability within a school science department.
Clear and professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues; familiarity with digital teaching tools is an advantage.
